Free Pharmacology- Women & Rheumatoid Arthritis

Evidenced Based Care of Women With RA- Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a chronic inflammatory disease that is on the rise in women, who are already 3 times more likely than men to develop this potentially debilitating disease. Without appropriate treatment, RA progresses, causes joint destruction, and erodes physical function and quality of life. Therefore, early recognition and treatment initiation are critical to improving patient outcomes. The goal of this activity is to advance clinicians’ understanding of cutting-edge evidence regarding diagnosis and treatment of RA in women.
Apply the new classification criteria for RA to establish earlier disease diagnosis.
Summarize the current evidence-based guideline recommendations regarding use of nonbiologic and biologic disease-modifying antirheumatic drugs (DMARDs).
Develop a treatment plan based on the most current evidence for women with early RA to suppress ongoing inflammation and prevent joint injury.
Outline strategies to hasten initial referral and improve ongoing collaboration with rheumatologists when providing care for patients with RA.
