Managing Flu Symptoms- Free Pharmacology Hours for Nurse Practitioners

Helping patients manage cough, cold & flu- Describe the epidemiology, etiology, symptomatology & therapeutic options available for treating cough, cold & flu in adults & children. Counsel patients & caregivers on strategies that may help prevent cough, cold & flu. Identify conditions & patient populations when non-pharmacologic options, including humidifiers & vaporizers, are appropriate. Respond to commonly asked questions that patients & caregivers may have about prevention & treatment of cough, cold & flu, including special considerations for children, pregnant women & the elderly. Distinguish between situations where selfcare using non-prescription drug therapy for cough, cold & flu are appropriate & when additional treatment or referral is necessary.
